The story

Founded by a baker who could never sit still

Cloudleaf began in 2014 in a one-bedroom flat in Brunswick, with one stand mixer and an old recipe notebook. Twelve years later we are a team of five in a sunlit kitchen on Sturt Street — but the rules are still the same.

Local Victorian butter. Free-range eggs from a co-op in Yarra Valley. Real vanilla beans, not extract. And every cake decorated by the person who will hand it to you.

What our regulars say

★★★★★

The lemon-elderflower cupcakes for my sister’s engagement were a quiet showstopper. Half the room asked where they were from before the speeches finished.

We have been ordering monthly platters for two years and the team has never missed a beat. They remember which of us are gluten-free without us having to remind them.

Ordered a small wedding cake on six weeks notice and they walked us through three tastings before we settled on pistachio with rose buttercream. Worth every cent.

My six year old declared the rainbow cake ‘the best cake of her life’. I am inclined to agree. Will be back for every birthday from here on.

Questions we hear most

How far in advance should I place an order?
For cupcakes and sweet treats we ask for 48 hours notice. Custom cakes and corporate platters need 5–7 business days so we can plan flavours and decoration with you.

Yes — we deliver within a 25 km radius of Southbank seven days a week. Same-day pickup from the Sturt Street kitchen is available between 10am and 4pm.
Can you make gluten-free or vegan options?
Absolutely. Every menu item can be adapted to gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan diets — just mention the requirement when you enquire and we will quote any small additional cost.
How long do the cupcakes stay fresh?
Our buttercream cupcakes are at their best within 48 hours of baking. Store in a cool place and bring them to room temperature 20 minutes before serving.
Do you cater corporate events?
Yes — boardroom platters, conference catering and branded dessert boxes from 12 servings upward. We invoice monthly and can match company colours on icing or packaging.
Where are you located?
